Sybil DeJonge

Hi everyone! Welcome to the 2024-2025 School year!

My name is Sybil DeJonge and I am happy to be back at HJ Cody for my third year. This year I am excited to be teaching Grade 9 and 10 PE, and Grade 9 and 10 Outdoor Ed as well as Coaching Grade 9 Girls Volleyball. I am also pumped to be driving the Laker Shaker and the Cheese Wagon ( aka The Yellow Bus) around town to sports events and field trips. 

I am passionate about being physically active and enjoy challenging myself in various activities like marathons, triathlons, hiking, XC and downhill skiing, camping, and working out. I have been training this summer for an upcoming Ironman at the end of September and look forward to sharing this experience with my students. I also like to continue gaining knowledge and growing as an educator and have taken part in various workshops with Alberta Hunter Education and learned lots about survival skills, archery, bowhunting, and fishing. I also enjoy reading, traveling and taking my dog for long walks around Sylvan.

I am pleased to be part of the HJ Cody staff and looking forward to teaching and getting to know your children and sharing my knowledge about physical activity and wellness as well as the outdoors with them. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
